ir-keytable doesn't recognize IReTV USB IR Receiver

I just received my IReTV USB IR Receiver and plugged it into my mythtv frontend.
The lsusb command reports the device as:
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 04d8:efbe Microchip Technology, Inc. Inteset IR Keyboard

However, when attempting to test, ir-keytable does not recognize the receiver:
[root@host ~]# ir-keytable
No devices found

A quick check of input devices shows that the device is recognized and defined:
[root@host ~]# ls -l /dev/input/by-id/
total 0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 9 Sep 24 06:33 usb-Inteset_Inteset_IR_Keyboard-event-ir -> ../event4

And when I specify the device on the command line, everything looks good:
[root@host ~]# ir-keytable -d /dev/input/event4
Name: Inteset Inteset IR Keyboard Syst
bus: 3, vendor/product: 04d8:efbe, version: 0x0111

However, when I try to test IR input, I get an error:
[root@host ~]# ir-keytable -d /dev/input/event4 --test
Can't open lirc device: Bad address

Is this device not supported by Linux? Also, why does the device identify itself as
"Microchip Technology, Inc. Inteset IR Keyboard"?

I'd expect it to be identified as "IR Receiver"

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
